Why do we require your puppy be spayed/neutered?
There are many benefits to spaying/neutering your dog. Altering your pet will increase his/her chance of a longer and healthier life. It will increase his life an average of 1 to 3 years. Altered animals have a very low to no risk of mammary gland tumor/cancer, prostate cancer, perianal tumors, pyometia, uterine, overian and testicular cancers.
*Surveys indicate that as many as 85% of dogs hit by a car are unaltered*
Benefits to Neutering (males):
• Reduced or eliminates risk of marking • Less desire to roam, therefore less likely to be injured in fights or auto accidents • Decreased aggressive behavior • Frequently helps with behavior problems
Benefits to Spaying (females):
• No heat cycle, therefore males will not be attracted (males can smell a female in heat from over a mile away) • Less desire to roam • No mess to clean up when she’s in heat (which lasts an average of 14-21 days) • Decreased aggressive behavior
